February 2009:
2nd February 2009
We've finished the rear entrance hallway. We used marble effect cladding panels on the wall finished off with PVC trim and a coat rail.
6th February 2009
Most of the interior doors have been fitted today and are ready for priming and painting.
We discovered a problem with the bathroom door. The room was planned to allow room for the door to open, however we found there isn't enough space left for you to enter the room and close the door! We may have to change this for a folding door.

6th February 2009
Snow!!!
It's not really causing us too much trouble but the skip we had booked couldn't be delivered this morning and has been re-scheduled for Monday
9th February 2009
The skip arrived this morning and was filled within an hour!
All of the internal doors are now fitted except the bathroom door, so it's on with more painting. Two of the bedrooms have now been glossed and are now completed except for the carpets.
10th February 2009
More painting! All bedrooms, and the hall, stairs and landing are completed, the doors need another coat of paint however.
12th February 2009
We have borded the understairs cupboard just to tidy it up a bit before painting.
The upstairs is now fully painted and is 99% completed.
Click here for video clips of todays work.

The gas pipe is completed to the boiler now, so we can re-install the kitchen. It just needs the worktops and tiling now.
13th February 2009
We've had to make a door for the understairs cupboard as it is a special size. We planned the door and bought enough wood, but then changed the design of the door and now we've run out!
16th February 2009
The cupboard door is now finished, we've also painted the inside of the cupboard but it all needs another coat.
The kitchen units are now properly fitted and fixed to the wall. The worktops have been cut to size ready for final fitting tomorrow.
17th February 2009
The cupboard is now finished, so it's on with the kitchen. The sink, oven and hob are all fitted but need finishing off yet. The flue-liner has finally arrived so we can get on with the gas fires very soon.
18th February 2009
More "finishing off" work in the kitchen. Now we have begin constructing the cabinet that will house the boiler and hide the unsightly pipes. We are building this out of matching beech style wood so as to blend in with the rest of the kitchen. It also must be removable so as to allow access to the boiler for servicing.
19th February 2009
The boiler cabinet is now completed and hides all the pipework. All the panels are removable for access.
20th February 2009
The worktop is finished off and the upstands are fitted. These were quite badly bent when delivered. We had left them overnight under heavy weights to straighten them out, which did help. The large pots of paint are only there to hold the upstand against the wall whilst the adhesive sets.
We have also fitted the flue liner in the lounge and sealed the chimney pots to prevent rain-water running down. This is a view looking up inside the chimney in the dining room. A debris plate is fitted around the flue liner. This can now be cut shorter and the gas fire fitted.
23rd February 2009
Tiling the kitchen is well underway. Progress has been slow today because the tiles are very thick and difficult to cut. However the tiles do look very good with a patterned border running long the line of the sockets.
25th February 2009
The kitchen tiling is complete! This just about completes the kitchen now, with just a few "finishing off" jobs to do, so we can get on with the gas fires next. The dining room gas fire is due to be delivered to us tomorrow, and if it arrives early we'll be able to get it installed.
27th February 2009
Here is the (almost!) completed kitchen and gas fire in the dining room. The actual gas connections to the fire will be done on 11th March, which is just as well because this fire was delivered damaged along the bottom, and with the top of the fascia surround both bent and badly scratched. A new fire is being sent by the manufacturer.
